Job Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, highly motivated acoustic engineer to join our growing UK R&D centre. The lead acoustic engineer will be responsible for handling a team of transducer engineers to develop specific product ranges of first-rate audio products, from concept through to production for some of well-known brands.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a team to develop transducers for application in automotive audio
• Convert product concept into engineering activities from RFQ through to final product delivery.
• Plan and manage a team of engineers, whilst coaching and developing them to create a high performing team.
• Collaborating with acoustic, electronic, mechanical and manufacturing engineers across the globe to design and develop high quality transducers for application in professional audio systems
• Interacting with customers and internal acoustic engineering teams to elicit and document transducer design requirements, develop and check transducer verification plans, iterate on transducer and acoustic system simulations to converge on solutions that meet cost and performance requirements and ultimately release complete designs to production that meet customer requirements.
• Interacting with customers to plan transducer development projects as well as working with internal team members to effectively deliver the transducer projects.
• Oversee the measurement, listening and analysis of prototypes and competitive products, objectively and subjectively and the generation of technical reports.
• Lead the team to perform DFMEA and design reviews of transducers during the New Product Introduction process
• Strive for excellence, quality, and efficiency
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Degree (or equivalent experience) in acoustics, electroacoustics, physics, electrical engineering, electromechanical engineering, or other science/technology subject if relevant is preferred
• At least 5 or more years of transducer development experience for automotive
• Proficient in the use of advanced test and measurement equipment such as Klippel, Audio Precision, Soundcheck.
• Deep understanding of the interpretation of the measurement data, such as large signal parameter measurements, and provide the engineering team direction based on the data.
• Extensive experience in FEA or BEA Multiphysics acoustics simulation
• Experience in specifying acoustic transducers and audio system requirements
• Experience in developing passive and active crossovers, and acoustic system tuning with DSP.
• Keen to develop product design skills working in a large acoustic and electronic product design group
• Very organised, self-motivated with a strong capacity to recognise priorities, whilst being process-oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and Mandarin
• Proficient at using Microsoft packages
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Previous experience of manage a team of engineers
• Experience in the automotive audio industry
• Experience in design and optimization of transducers and their components
• Experience of using Anechoic facilities, AP, Klippel (LSI, SCN, PWT) COMSOL etc
• Experience in project management, preferably using Microsoft Project.
• Experience in a multinational company
• Multilingual necessary – Mandarin / English
